KATOOMBA - Blue Mountains Wilderness Experience

Just 2hrs west of Sydney is a National Park area that you must visit. The wild of Australia's bush, the prolific bird life including parrots, and the 247,000 hectares of rugged beauty. Go for the day with an organised tour group, or better still spend a few days exploring with some mates or on your own.

GETTING THERE:

It's easy to catch a CountryLink Train at Sydney's Central Station and after travelling through the Western suburbs, some mountain views; you arrive at Katoomba, heart of the Blue Mtns.
Oz Experience will also get you there as part of your Bus Pass. Many other bus companies operate from Sydney daily.

 

WHERE TO STAY:

Heaps of Backpacker Hostels in Katoomba and surrounds, but you may choose to stay at the modern re-furbished Blue Mountains YHA.

PLACES TO EAT:

Katoomba has a great selection of café's and eateries, making a budget feed always available. Of course you can always save by slapping up a meal at the hostel kitchen.

GETTING AROUND:

Local bus services run several area's, with the scenic railway and Skyway cable car hugely popular. Blue Mountains Explorer Bus (hop on, hop off, 1 - 7 day pass) takes you around the area with several options.... more

 

WHAT TO DO:

Take in the dramatic cliffs, canyons and waterfalls from walking trails and especially the 2.5km. Boardwalk, which runs along the canyon floor. Many adrenalin adventures including abseiling, canyoning, and rock climbing with experienced eco-guides. Visit the famous limestone caves. Many 4WD and Bus Tours operate daily and include overnight stays.
